La Foręt Noire

… is an informal affinity group of darkly-inspired artists, currently based in Montreal. More or less founded as a counter-cultural website by Raven's initiative around 2002, the collective has moved to an autonomous existence around the winter of 2004-2005 to enact a theatrical play inspired by the Aube Noire. More than a score of artists have passed through - still we remain a sort of 'side-project' for different artists and activists. Different creations range from visual artwork, music, novels, poetry, theatre, videos - anything the artists can get their hands on. We try to support local 'like-minded' initiatives, maintain a humble network of contacts and stir up the occasional 'open-mic' Chaos Night: where we can share derision and disorder in any way we can.

Oft interpreted as a loose attempt to breach the gap between the goth community and the anarchist movement, la Foręt Noire is focused on opening up new means of expression and to break up status-quo. Political influences range from anarchism to active nihilism, postleftism, queer, radical ecology and anti-civilisationist critique.
